As lentic ihydrostatic systemsj, lakes are important natural science features (i.e., long residence time, integrating nature; complex response dynamics) with significant implications for lake basin management and its governance challenges. This relationship between the natural science features and the governance challenges must be reflected in the ILBM process, and supported by a relevant database system. The World Lake Database developed by ILEC, which contains both quantitative data on the former, as well as text-based data on the latter, is currently being updated and upgraded for this purpose, based on information to be provided in the Lake Briefs of individual lake basins. This database system is presently provisionally uploaded at: http://wldb.ilec.or.jp/
